Safe Avenues serves victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse; child witnesses of domestic violence; and families in need of supervised visitation or parental exchange. All of our services are confidential and free of charge.

24 hour crisis intervention.
Trained staff and/or volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist with client crisis intervention.

Emergency residential shelter is available for battered women and their children when in immediate danger of abuse. The primary resource for emergency shelter is the residential facility located in Willmar. 

Alternate shelter resources are also available for male victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault.

Provide assistance in coordinating other services such as:

  • Medical and mental health
  • Permanent housing
  • Finances
  • Child care
  • Skills training or employment
Legal advocacy
  • Support for victims who need criminal justice intervention
  • Assistance filing Harassment Restraining Orders (HRO's) and Orders for Protection (OFP's)
  • Support during divorce, custody, and visitation issues

Support groups for survivors.

Available at Willmar, Benson, Montevideo, and Olivia locations

Personal safety planning for victims and children.

Supervised child visitation and exchange. Available through Harmony Visitation Center

Public awareness and education.

Informative presentations are available for community and student groups.  Safe Avenues also promotes and facilitates special awareness/fundraising events, community activities, and involvement in local community service groups.
